Tamaqua man jailed for threats
A Tamaqua man has been cited after allegedly entering a borough woman's apartment and threatening one of her friends.
Debra Nuttall, of 129 W. Broad St., called police at 11:48 p.m. Sunday to report an unwanted male had broken into her apartment. The intruder, identified as Kareem Walker, also threatened a male friend of Nuttall's, forcing him to flee the residence. Walker then locked the doors to the apartment and the apartment building.
After contacting the landlord, officers were able to gain entry to the building, but found the safety chain had been engaged on Nuttall's door. With permission the officer broke the chain lock, gained entry and found Walker asleep on the floor.
Walker was taken into custody and charged with one felony count of criminal trespass, making terroristic threats and harassment. He was taken to the Schuylkill County Prsion, Pottsville, and video arraigned before District Judge James Ferrier, of Orwigsburg, who set bail at $10,000 straight cash bond.
