State police at Lehighton reported on two crashes investigated by troopers this week on Monroe County roads.

A crash occurred about 12:20 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28, along Lower Smith Gap Road, in Eldred Township. Troopers said Timothy D. Larkin, 38, of Kunkletown, was eastbound in a 2007 Saturn Ion when he failed to negotiate a right curve. The vehicle traveled southeast off the road and struck a tree. Upon impact the car spun 270-degrees in a clockwise direction and into the eastbound lane where it came to rest facing north.

Larkin sustained a minor injury but did not require immediate medical attention.

He was cited for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.

The second crash occurred about 1 a.m. on Thursday, July 29, along SR209 in Polk Township. Troopers said Mahfoudh F. Alzageruri, 25, of Shawnee on the Delaware, was driving a 2001 Audi A4 when he failed to negotiate a right curve in the road. The vehicle went onto the berm and struck an embankment.

Alzageruri suffered a moderate injury and was taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance. He was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
