Carbon man facing charges
A Carbon County man is facing charges following an incident at a county restaurant.
State police at Lehighton said the incident occurred about 1-1:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, at Valerios Restaurant & Pizzeria in Penn Forest Township.
Troopers said Amandio Dias, 44, of Jim Thorpe, was a patron in the business when an argument involving his money escalated.
Troopers said Dias left the restaurant and allegedly brandished a 9mm handgun in the parking lot and fired two rounds into the air while patrons were present outside the restaurant. Dias was heard making threats to harm persons while firing the handgun, troopers said.
Dias was taken into custdoy without incident with the assistance of Kidder Township police. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending against Dias, troopers said.
