DUI arrests reported in Pocono
Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by officers recently.
Police said on May 27 about 10:44 p.m. officers on patrol observed a suspicious truck parked in the lot of the former Century 21 office along SR196 in Tobyhanna, Coolbaugh Township. The pickup truck's engine was running and the operator was behind the wheel.
The driver was identified as Alan Wagoner, 48, of Tobyhanna. He showed signs of intoxication and an open bottle of bourbon was in his possession, police said. He failed field sobriety tests and was transported to the Pocono Medical Center (PMC), in East Stroudsburg, for a blood test. Police said Wagner was then placed in the county prison in Snydersville.
On May 30 about 12:27 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop along SR196 at Ed's Towing, in Tobyhanna, for various vehicle code violations. The driver was identified as Thomas Hayes, 48, of Tobyhanna. He was found to be intoxicated. A search of his person revealed a small amount of marijuana and prescription pills. Hayes failed field sobriety tests. He was then transported to PMC for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.
On May 31 at 1:04 a.m. officers stopped a vehicle along SR196 near the Tobyhanna Shopping Plaza for several vehicle code violations. The driver was identified as Jose Manuel Diaz, 51, of Pocono Summit. He admitted to drinking alcohol and failed field sobriety tests. He was then taken to the PMC for a blood test. It was also learned that Diaz's drivers license is currently under suspension-DUI related.
The DUI charge is pending the test results, police said.
