'The Fishing Hole' is now on PFBC site

In an effort to better inform anglers, boaters and other interested individuals, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is making it easier to find information about fishing, boating and aquatic resources by adding a new link entitled "The Fishing Hole" on its Web site at www.fishandboat.com.

When accessing "The Fishing Hole," readers will be directed to lists of frequently asked questions - slugged FAQs about a variety of topics to help them understand, connect to and conserve Pennsylvania's waterways, fish, reptiles, amphibians and other aquatic resources. While the PFBC has posted frequently asked questions on the web site in the past, this new feature will improve access to the information.

"We are here to serve all Pennsylvanians and visitors to the Commonwealth, and we want to make it as easy as possible for them to have their questions answered," PFBC executive director John Arway said. "If someone does not find what they are looking for, or if they have a comment for us, we encourage them to contact us via the electronic forms at the bottom of each FAQ page."

Arway also issued the reminder that Sunday is the second of the PFBC's two designated "Fish For Free Days," which allow unlicensed anglers to legally fish in Pennsylvania. This regulation is in effect from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on all Pennsylvania waterways.

"These "Fish For Free Days" provide an opportunity for active anglers to introduce a friend or relative to the lifelong sport of fishing," Arway said. "It's also a great way for families to have fun, create new memories and spend quality time together."

The Lehigh River Stocking Association's Trout Angling Demo and Social Event will be held Saturday, June 12 beginning at 12 noon at River Walcks on Route 248 and the Parryville exit.

The LRSA will also be stocking trout in the Pohopoco Creek the Thursday before the event right behind the restaurant. Current and potential sponsors are invited to come out for lunch and trout fishing. The LRSA will then assemble on the back deck and back yard area which overlooks an excellent stretch of the Pohopoco Creek for demonstrations on fly fishing, bait fishing and spin fishing. Two trout of over 25 inches will be stocked for the event.
