Schuylkill man jailed for assault

A Schuylkill County man was jailed on Thursday, June 3, after being charged with sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl.

State police at Frackville said Brent William Herb, 22, of Pottsville, has been charged with statutory sexual assault (felony 2), indecent assault (misdemeanor 2), and corruption of a minor (M1). He was arraigned before District Judge David A. Plachko, of Port Carbon, and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post 10 percent of $25,000 bail.

According to troopers the victim reported having sexual intercourse with Herb on Nov. 15, 2009, at 179 Valley St., in New Philadelphia. Following an investigation into the allegations Herb was arrested and charged.
