Tams take pair

Tamaqua won a pair of recent games in Schuylkill Legion play to highlight youth baseball action.

Valley View-Tamaqua

Chris Pilla had three hits and scored three runs Thursday to help Tamaqua gain an 11-6 victory over Valley View.

Mike Streisel collected two hits, one of them a homer, and knocks in three runs for the winners, who score in every inning.

The Blue Sox also receive a hit, an RBI and three runs scored from Jay Pilla while Derek Linkhorst gains the pitching win.

Tamaqua-Hamburg

A five-run fourth inning propelled Tamaqua to a 6-2 victory over Hamburg.

The big hit in Tamaqua's fourth inning was a two-run double Ty Rother. Rosen added an RBI single in the frame and Chris Pilla had a sacrifice fly.

Rother finished the game with three hits to lead Tamaqua offensively. Mike Streisel added two hits while Rosen scored a pair of runs.

Tyler Milot got the pitching victory in relief. He allowed just one hit in two innings of work.

Zach Stanko gained the pitching win and also hit a home run to help the Panther Valley Black Diamonds gain a 5-3 win over the Allen Township Warriors.

Stanko connected for two-run blast as PV stayed undefeated with a 3-0 record.

Jeff Corby, who was 2-for-3, also hit a two-run homer for Panther Valley.

Jimmy Flannery went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI to lead the Bushkill Township Minutemen to a 10-3 victory over the Pleasant Valley Pirates.

Shawn Tripp added a triple and an RBI for the Minutemen (3-1).

Kyle Minzola fired a three-hitter to help the McAdoo/Weatherly Nationals gain an 11-1 win over Forks Township.

Minzola also did damage at the plate, finishing with a single, double, and four RBIs.

Drew Sherkness also contributed a single, double and three RBIs.
