Pastors celebrated
The services of Pastors Dave Felker and Deb Hoffman have been or are being celebrated as they bid the Effort UMC church family farewell.
Pastor Deb's recognition was held after the Saturday, June 12, service, with many in attendance; Pastor Dave's recognition will be held on June 20, after the worship service at 10 a.m. The church will only hold one service so that all church family may meet together.
There will be a Youth Worship Saturday evening service at 7 p.m. on June 19.
Lion of the Year
The Western Pocono Lions Club will recognize the Lion of the Year at its next club meeting, on June 16, and the upcoming program year officers will be installed.
In addition, a new member will be installed.
The club meets at The Hamilton in Saylorsburg, beginning with a social time from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Dinner and the meeting begin at 7 p.m.
West End Wings
The Father's Day tradition of the West End Wings holding an air show on that day continues.
The event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, June 20, at a field on Mayfield Drive off the Effort-Neola Road.
The event offers various activities and admission is free.
Pastor leaving
The Pastor of St. Peter's UMC, the Rev. KeyOne Yu, has been appointed to another form of service within the larger Methodist church. He and his family will bid farewell to the congregation the end of June and a new pastor will be named to serve that congregation.
GASP meets
The German American Club of the Poconos will meet at 2 p.m., Monday, June 21, at the Elk's Lodge in East Stroudsburg.

Special events
Phyllis and Allen C. Conklin of Effort have celebrated 59 years of marriage this week.
Also marking a marriage milestone are Ralph and Louise Heckman, June 19.
