Warrants issued for Tamaqua man

A Tamaqua man is on the run with warrants for his arrest filed by Tamaqua police and Schuylkill County detectives.

Craig Allen York, 25, last known address of 216 Hunter St., was being sought on a county bench warrant issued after York failed to appear for a hearing in county court. York had been scheduled for a hearing before Judge Charles Miller on May 28.

Tamaqua police then went to York's home to serve the warrant and were told by York's father, Lynn, his son hadn't been home in days. The younger York's vehicle was also missing.

Knowing York was a Megan's Law registered offender, Cpl. Henry Woods contacted state police Megan's Law Unit to check if York had provided them with an updated address. Instead, Woods learned York had failed to contact the unit, as required by law and had been listed as "absconded" as of May 26

Woods then requested an arrest warrant from District Judge Stephen Bayer. The judge issued the warrant on June 15.
