A Berks County motorcyclist was slightly injured in a crash that occurred about 8:10 p.m. on Friday, June 18, along SR61, south of the Schuylkill Mall in Blythe Township, Schuylkill County, in an area known as "dead man's cruve."

State police at Frackville said Robert Merinsky, 33, of Hamburg, was driving a 2007 Victory Kingpin bike southbound and attempting to negotiate a sharp right curve when he lost control. The bike went onto the berm and struck the guard rail.

Merinsky sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville, by Frackville ambulance.

Troopers also probed a crash about 8:40 a.m. Friday along Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township. Troopers said Gabrielle A. Dertinger, 38, of York, was driving a 1992 Toyota Camry northbound and attempted to avoid a flock of turkeys crossing the road. She swerved to the left and then back again losing control of the car.

The vehicle went onto the berm and struck a ditch and then an embankment causing it to overturn onto the driver's side.

Dertinger sustained a minor injury in the crash and was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville. She was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic, troopers added.
