Break-ins, theft incidents probed

State police at Lehighton reported investigating burglaries and theft incidents.

A break-in occurred at the Sunoco Service Station located at the intersection of Old Route 115 and Kunkletown Rd., in Ross Township, Monroe County. Troopers said a glass in the main entrance door was smashed to gain entry. Removed was two cash register drawers and three packs of Newport cigarettes. The property is owned by Alliance Energy Inc., of Branford, Conn. The incident occurred sometime around 4 a.m. on June 17.

A residence along Upper Smith Gap Road, in Eldred Township, Monroe County, was entered sometime overnight of June 16-17. Removed was three gold pins, a U.S. passport and binoculars. The name of the victim was not released by troopers.

Michele A. Baran, 44, of 50 Owl Hollow Drive, Saylorsburg, Ross Township, reported about $12,850 worth of jewelry and personal electronics were taken sometime between A[pril 19 and June 19. Through an investigation a 17-year-old juvenile from Saylorsburg has been arrested and charged with the theft. The juvenile was placed in the Berks County Juvenile Detention Center pending action by the county juvenile probation office.

James Gerald Fallon, 67, of 3608 Ashley Court, Kunkletown, Polk Township, Monroe County, reported his unlocked vehicle was entered. Removed was some U.S. currency and coins. The incident occurred sometime between midnight and 6 a.m on Saturday, June 19.

Denise Frable, 54, of 510 Hahns Dairy Rd., in Lower Towamensing Township, reported someone opened an account in her name and made a transaction. The incident occurred sometime between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on June 11.

Sherry Lee Hoppes, 42, of Palmerton, reported someone damaged the driver's side paint on her 1994 Ford Explorer while parked at 395 Little Gap Road, in Lower Towamensing Township, sometime between midnight and 6 a.m. on June 18. Damages were estimate at $500.

Dorothy June Gildner, 86, of 8 Chestnut Circle, Beers Trailer Court, Kunkletown, Lower Towamensing Township, reported the rear driver's side mirror on her 2008 Subaru Forester was damaged while parked near her home sometime between midnight and 9 a.m. on June 17.
