Two drivers facing charges

Two drivers involved in two separate crashes along Schuylkill County roadways are facing charges, according to state police at Schuylkill Haven.

The first crash occurred about 10:20 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, along Blue Mountain Road at the intersection wtih SR61, in Port Clinton. Troopers said Kyle F. Nolen, 22, of Lansdale, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier westbound on Blue Mountain and attempting a left turn onto SR61 to go southbound. At the same time Serena M. Winters, 28, of Port Clinton, was northbound on 61 in the right lane.

Nolen pulled into Winters' lane of travel with Winter's 1989 Mazda 626 striking the front right of the Cavalier. Nolen and passenger Jennifer L. Tucker, 19, of Lansdale, were not injured but another passenger, Michelle L. Travers, 19, of Lansdale, sustained a minor injury. Winters and her passenger, Michael C. Missimer, 31, of Hamburg, were not injured.

Troopers cited Nolen for duty at stop signs.

The second crash occurred on Friday, June 18, along Interstate 81 in Ryan Township. Troopers said a 17-year-old female from York was driving a 1991 Honda Accord northbound in the left lane at a high rate of speed when the vehicle left the road and went onto the medium. The driver lost control and the car began to rotate, crossed both northbound lanes and struck the guard rails on the east berm.

A passenger, Jody Gordon Jr., 24, of York, was injured but did not require medical attention. The teen driver and antoher 16-year-old male from York were not injured.

The teen driver was cited for careless driving.
