Schuylkill bicentennial committee looking for recipes
The Schuylkill County Bicentennial Committee wants your favorite recipe to preserve for posterity.
In 2011 Schuylkill County will be celebrating 200 years. As part of the celebration, a cookbook is being compiled to be sold not only as a commemorative piece, but also as a sample of the rich ethnic heritage of the county.
The committee is seeking recipes from all 67 municipalities in the county, plus favorite dishes from restaurants and fire companies. Recipes must be submitted by July 31 as printing is anticipated for the fall.
Recipes may be submitted by mail, e-mail or dropped off to Lori Kane, McCann School of Business and Technology, 2650 Woodglen Road, Pottsville, Pa. 17901; (570)-622-7622; or lori.kane@mccann.edu; or to Deb Dasch, Schuylkill County Courthouse, Pottsville; (570)-628-1410; or cookbookco.@schuylkill.ps.us.
The recipe should fit one of the following categories:
Appetizers and Beverages, Soups and Salads, Vegetable and Side Dishes, Main Dishes, Ethnic Dishes, Desserts, Cookies and Candy and This and That.
List all ingredients in order of use and list directions; include container sizes such as 16 oz pkg, 24-oz can; use names of ingredients in the directions, such as combine flour and sugar; include temperature and cooking, chilling, baking and or freezing times.
In giving a title to your recipe, list the main ingrediants first, such as Rice Pudding by Aunt Jo rather than Aunt Jo's Rice Pudding, so it's easily found in the index.
