Two crashes in Schuylkill probed
State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating two crashes on Schuylkill County roadways recently.
Troopers said a one-vehicle crash occurred about 5:31 p.m. on June 22 along SR501 in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Thomas M. Hassler, 21, of Bethel, Berks County, was northbound in a 2005 Ford F250 truck. The road was wet from a recent rain when Hassler attempted to negotiate a right curve. The vehicle began to slide and hit the guide rail and then went over an embankment.
Hassler sustained a minor injury but did not require medical treatment. He was cited for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.
Another one vehicle crash occurred about 12:15 p.m. on Friday, June 25, along SR901 in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Lynnette B. Weisner, 51, of Milton, Northumberland County, was eastbound when the tie rod on her 1999 Volvo 580 snapped, causing the tire to snap under the car, damaging the engine and front of the vehicle. Weisner and her passenger, Claire Weisner, 12, same address, were not injured.
