Borough meetings

Lansford Borough officials have announced the council's meetings that are scheduled for the month of July.

All of the sessions will be held in the Lansford Community Center, unless otherwise noted.

The schedule is as follows:

Thursday, July 1, Grants Committee, 6:30 p.m.

Monday, July 12, Facility Planning Committee, 6:30 p.m. in the borough office.

Wednesday, July 14, Borough Council, 6:30 p.m.

Monday, July 26, Public Safety Committee, 6:30 p.m.

Monday, July 26, Public Works Committee, 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday, July 27, Municipal Administration Committee, 7 p.m. in borough office.

Thursday, July 29, Parks and Recreation Committee, 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, July 29, Code, Planning, Zoning and Ordinance Committee, 7:15 p.m.

Office closed

The Lansford Borough Office, as well as the Code Enforcement and Tax Collectors' offices, will be closed on Monday, July 5, in observance of Independence Day.

Bloodmobile results

A recent Miller-Keystone Blood Center bloodmobile visit to Lansford netted 38 units of blood and had 10 persons medically deferred.

The visit was sponsored by St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford. John Karnish was the chairman of the event.

The church sponsors three bloodmobiles per year.

The other ones are held around Presidents Day in February and the Columbus Day holiday in October.

Summit Hill

Methodist Charge

The schedule for the Coaldale/Summit Hill United Methodist Charge for Sunday, July 4, is as follows:

Worship services will be held at 9 a.m. in the Summit Hill United Methodist Church and at 11 a.m. in the Coaldale United Methodist Church.

A service of Holy Communion, with the Rev. Burgess Gordon, pastor, officiating, will be observed in both churches.

The adult Sunday school will be held at 10 a.m. in the Coaldale church.

Presbyterian church

The worship service for the Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill, for Sunday, July 4, will take place at 9:30 a.m., which is a change for the summer season.

The time will be in effect until Sept. 12. During the summer, there will be no junior choir, Sunday school or adult Bible class.

Food distribution

The Summit Hill Food Pantry distributes food items to those who qualify in town on the fourth Tuesday of the month.
