Schuylkill driver facing charges

Published March 02. 2010 05:00PM

A Schuylkill County driver is facing hit-and-run and other charges following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, along Valley Road, in New Castle Township. State police at Frackville said the use of a cellular phone caused the crash.

According to troopers Kyle G. Raczka, 35, of Pottsville, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier northbound when he lost control while negotiating a left curve. Troopers said Raczka became distracted when he answered his cellular phone. The car went onto the right berm for about 96 feet before it struck the guard rail. The car came to rest against the guard rail.

Raczka fled the scene on foot but was later located at his home, troopers said.
