Newspaper drive

The men and boys of St. John's Lutheran Church will hold their monthly newspaper drive on Saturday, March 6. Papers should be bundled and placed within sight of the collectors by 8 a.m. They also need brown grocery-size paper bags. The shiny inserts are acceptable.

Persons missed or those wishing to dispose of papers throughout the month may take them to the church garage on Fireline Road, which is always open. In case of bad weather, the drive will be held the following Saturday.

Historical society

The Monday, March 8 meeting of the Palmerton Area Historical Society will feature a discussion by architect Ben Walbert on the restoration and renovation of historic buildings. This is a timely subject because the society has received an official "Determination of Eligibility" from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission for the establishment of a historic district. Walbert's talk will follow a short business meeting beginning at 7 p.m. in the gallery of the Palmerton Area Library. The public is invited to attend without cost or obligation.
