Man struck while operating snowblower dies of injuries
A Tamaqua man who was struck by a car Friday evening has died from his injuries.
William Steele, 54, of East Union Street was struck by a 1996 Infiniti at 8:42 p.m. Friday.
Steele was using a snowblower to remove snow from a parking space when he was struck by the vehicle, which was being operated by David Ems, 24, of Tamaqua.
The force of the impact tossed Steele approximately 30 feet after he made contact with the hood and windshield.
Steele was flown to St. Luke's Trauma Center, Allentown, in a PennStar medical helicopter, after being treated at the scene by local EMS personnel.
Ems is facing multiple charges, including driving without a valid license.
Tamaqua Police are continuing their investigation and ask anyone who may have witnessed the accident to call (570) 668-5000.
