Hit and run driver sought in Lansford
Lansford police report a hit-and-run that happened during the night on Feb. 23. According to the report, a 2007 Chevy cobalt belonging to Donald Jones of 113 E. Patterson St. was damaged while parked across the street from Jones' house. The driver's side front and rear doors were smashed in. Jones had parked the car at about 9:30 p.m.
The suspect vehicle is a Jeep Wrangler, hardtop, white, silver or some other light color and had a front wrap-around brush guard bumper attached to the front of the vehicle. The suspect came north on Springgarden Street and turned right onto East Patterson Street. The Jeep apparently struck the Cobalt as it made the turn.
According to the report, the turn was done recklessly and the Jeep driver "appeared to lose it when he struck the parked vehicle." He then backed out and took off again, recklessly fishtailing and nearly striking another vehicle head-on, the report said.
The Jeep then drove east on Patterson Street to Chestnut Street, and then turned right on Chestnut, heading toward Bertsch Street.
Attempts to obtain the license number were unsuccessful.
