Preschool Story Hour
Preschool Story Hour is held at 10:30 a.m. each Friday through the school year. The programs are free and there is no preregistration.
Guest reader for story hour this week will be state Sen. David Argall. Winners of the annual bookmark contest will be announced.
Knitting Club
The knitting club meets on the first and third Monday of each month at the library from 6-8 p.m. Ideas will be discussed about knitting for various charities. The club is free. New members are welcome.
Third Monday Book Club
An adult book club meets the third Monday of each month at the library from noon until 1:15 p.m. Stop in at the library for more information. New members are welcome. The book for March 15 will be "A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens. On April 19 the subject is poetry. Please bring in a favorite poem for discussion.
Used books
The library sponsors a used book sale in the basement on a daily basis. New used books arrive daily along with videos, puzzles and CD's.
Board of trustees meeting
The board of directors of the Palmerton Area Library meets the third Wednesday of each month at the library at 4 p.m. Meetings are open to the public.
Friends of the Library
The next meeting of the Friends of the Library will be Tuesday, April 13 at 7 p.m. Stop in the library to pick up a membership form or join online and find opportunities to volunteer and serve the library. Visitors and new members are welcome.
Teen Advisory Group
The Teen Advisory Group is for students in grades 7-12 and meets at the library after school on the first Wednesday of the month. New members are welcome. The group is currently remodeling and painting a section of the library basement.
Book Sale Work Night will continue on the second Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. and at 6 p.m. Volunteers will gather in the library basement to organize and sort books and other items for the basement book sale. Everyone is welcome to come to help keep the sale looking neat and put new books on the shelves.
Tail Waggin' Tutors
Tail Waggin' Tutors, children reading to dogs sponsored by Therapy Dogs International, Inc., will be at the library monthly on the second Saturday from 11 a.m. until noon. Free to all area children, but they must register ahead for a time slot.
Computer classes
Computer classes for adults will be offered at the library in April. The beginner class will meet Thursdays from 5-7 p.m. for four weeks beginning April 8. The digital photo class will meet on Saturdays from 2-4 p.m. for three weeks beginning April 10. There is a fee for each class and students must register and pay in advance. Class size is limited.
Spring workshops
Another series of free Tuesday workshops will be offered at the library in April. All workshops will start at 6:30 p.m. and no registration is necessary.
April 6: The Drum Circle with TJ. Demonstrations of various drumming techniques and drumming in other cultures plus lots of audience participation.
April 13: The history of the library and the Friends of the Library.
April 20: "Get Writing, Get Published" presented by Diana Sinovic from the Greater Lehigh Valley Writer's Group.
For those interested in forming their own writer's group, meeting other writers or getting their work published.
April 27: Flower arranging with Judy from Palmerton Floral. Learn how to make a beautiful arrangement from your garden.
Photography show
Photography Show sponsored by the Friends of the library will be held on Sunday April 18 from 2-4 p.m.
Yoga classes
Yoga classes are continuing at the library on Saturday mornings at 9 a.m.
