Woman charged with shoplifting diapers
Nicole Allard, 22, 201 E. Kline Ave., Lansford, faces charges from an incident which took place at Rite Aid on Jan. 18 at 4:05 p.m. Charges were filed by Officer Tom Fort. Allard is charged with corruption of minors and retail theft.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, Fort was on patrol when he was dispatched to a retail theft at the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 480 W. Bertsch St. in which two females were "putting diapers up their shirts."
The dispatch said the two had run out of the store and were heading up East Bertsch Street. One wore a white hoodie sweat shirt and the other a blue hoodie sweat shirt.
Fort saw the two running east on W. Patterson Street. One was carrying a half-gallon of milk and a bottle of soda in a Boyer's Food market bag. The market is next door to the pharmacy.
Fort recognized the woman in the white hoodie as Allard from previous encounters in the borough. He took both of them back to the pharmacy for positive identification.
Witnesses at the pharmacy identified the two as the alleged shoplifters. Fort read Allard her Miranda rights and took her and the 12-year-old girl with her to the police station. Allard gave him a written confession.
