DUI arrests reported

Several driving under the influence (DUI) arrests were reported by state police at Lehighton having all occurred on Saturday, March 6. Troopers also reported a driver being cited for not having a interlock device on his vehicle as required for a prior DUI conviction.

Troopers said Arthur C. Parisi, 20, of Kunkletown, was stopped about 1:35 a.m. for a traffic violation along Beltzville Drive West of SR534, in Polk Township, Monroe County. He was found to be under the influence and transported to the Palmerton Hospital for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.

At 8 a.m. troopers stopped David Huff, 41, of Lehighton, for moving and equipment violations along SR248 westbound at the Bowmanstown Exit in Bowmanstown, Carbon County. He was found to be in possession of drugs and will be charged with DUI of a controlled substance, troopers added.

Troopers said about 7:33 p.m. Anthony Charles Sweetra, 46, of Kingston, Luzerne County, was stopped for a littering violation along SR209 at the turnpike entrance in Franklin Township, Carbon County. He was found to be under the influence and taken to the barracks where he submitted to a breath test. He will be charged with DUI, troopers said.

At 10:11 p.m. Donald Frederick Jones, 50, of Palmerton, was stopped for speeding along SR248 at Bowmanstown Exit. He was found to be under the influence and taken to the barracks for a breath test. Troopers said DUI charges are pending.

Troopers said about 6:10 p.m. on Friday, March 5, Robert S. Wiggins, 62, of Brodheadsville, was stopped along SR209 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, for a traffic violation. Troopers said at the stop it was determined that Wiggins had consumed alcohol while in possession of an "interlock driving license". He was driving his vehicle without an interlock device on his car as required by law, troopers said. He will be cited for the violation along with other summary offenses.
