Interagency Council

The next meeting of the Monroe County Interagency Council is scheduled for 9 a.m., Wednesday, March 10 at the Penn State Cooperative Extension Meeting Room, 724 Phillips Street, Stroudsburg.

The guest speaker will be Karen Schiavone, senior cancer center specialist from the American Cancer Society.

Chem Free Committee

The Pleasant Valley Chemical Free Graduation Party committee will meet at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 11, at Sen. Browne's office on the corner of Sullivan Trail and Route 209, across from the Chestnuthill Diner.

Rotary

The West End Rotary Club will meet for breakfast on Thursday, March 11 at the Western Pocono Community Library, Brodheadsville, and will hold its monthly club assembly.

Lions' agenda

The next several weeks will be busy for the Western Pocono Lions Club. The club will host a Red Cross blood drive at the American Legion in Gilbert on Thursday, March 18, from 2- 6 p.m. To register call club President Helen Koshensky at (570) 619-4286.

The next meeting is on Wednesday, March 17, at The Hamilton in Saylorsburg. Social time is 6:30- 7 p.m., with dinner served at 7 p.m. The program for the evening will be provided by Betsi Olmstead of Pocono Lutheran Village in East Stroudsburg.

On April 9, the club will sponsor a jewelry night at The Hamilton in Saylorsburg from 7-9 p.m. Reservations for both events should be made by calling Bob Argot at (570) 629-5718.

Lions clubs throughout the world have have collected over $2.2 million to support relief efforts for Haiti. Now Lions are unifying to provide support for the devastated country of Chile.

Talent auction

Effort UMC will hold its annual talent auction, dedicated in memory of the late Rev. Gerald Miller, on Friday, March 13, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The snow date is March 20.

GASP Meeting

The German American Club of the Poconos will hold its first meeting of the year at 2 p.m., Monday, March 15, at the Elks Lodge in East Stroudsburg.

Zion Seniors

The Senior Citizen's Group at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville will meet at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 18.

Pocono Parkinson's

The Pocono Parkinson's Support Group will meet at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 17, St.Patrick's Day, at the Loder Senior Center in East Stroudsburg for a free presentation on "Swallowing Disorders." For information, one can call (570) 420-3746.

Vision Clinic

A vision clinic for low and moderate-income people of any age will beheld at Career Link, Route 611, Merchants Plaza, Tannersville, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, March 22.

The income guidelines include 1 person, $21,032; 3 people, $34,952; and 6 persons, $55,832.
