Tamaqua woman cited twice

Published March 09. 2010 05:00PM

A Tamaqua woman was cited twice last week after being involved in two separate accidents.

Karen Reed, of Market Street, was operating a white Pontiac Grand Am on Friday afternoon in the area of the Family Dollar Store, 37 N. Railroad St. A Chevrolet Cavalier in front of the Pontiac, operated by Angela Heckman, stopped in front of the store. Reed was unable to stop and the Pontiac rear-ended the Chevrolet.

Officers noted several signs of intoxication on Reed's person, including slurred speech. She was given, and failed, field sobriety tests, then transported to the hospital for blood work.

Charges are pending lab results.

Reed was also cited on Thursday after her vehicle struck a railing at the Tamaqua School District Administration Building along W. Broad St.
