Vehicle stops lead to arrests
Three separate vehicle stops by members of the Pocono Mountain Regional police have led to arrests in Monroe County.
On Saturday, March 6, about 6:31 p.m. a vehicle was stopped along SR115 at Dick's Auto for various traffic offenses. The driver was identified as Antonio Austin, of Palmerton, and passenger as Kevin Kelly, of Albrightsville.
Further investigation revealed a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was found inside the vehicle. Kelly admitted the items were his and he was placed under arrest with drug charges pending against him.
Also on Saturday, about 7:46 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle along Clearview Drive at Sullivan Trail, in Tobyhanna Township, for various motor vehicle code violations. The driver was identified as Christina Cardona, 23, of Tannersville. Officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
Cardona consented to a search of the vehicle and found was about 2.7 ounces of marijuana. Police said Cardona admitted she was en route to sell the marijuana for $330. She was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Friday, March 5, about 7:13 p.m. officers stopped a vehicle along Titania/Hamlet Drive for equipment violations. The driver was identified as Justin Shelton, of Tobyhanna. Police found a marijuana cigar in the ash tray of the Dodge truck. Police placed Shelton under arrest for possession of marijuana.
