Bloodmobile results

The twice-postponed Milller-Keystone bloodmobile at Palmerton Area High School finally took place on Monday, March 8. There were 38 willing donors, with 17 giving whole blood, plus two units of plasma, six red blood cells, and seven platelets donated on the Trima machines, for a total of 32 units collected. Donors and National Honor Society volunteers were once again rewarded with pizzas and other refreshments.

Perma Snyder and Lucille Rex were canteen volunteers, and the following National Honor Society students assisted in various duties: Danielle Bissell, Jillian Farkas, Jess Fegley, Courtney Gruber, Kaitlin Reimer, Elizabeth Hahn, Dan Haney, Billy Heinick, Lyndsey Heinrich, Brianna Hoglen, Robert Keyser, Maddie Kohler, Megan Mummey, Danielle Norris, Jesse Reis, Kristen Romano, Jordan Ruzicka, Levi Serfass, Sara Smiley, and Abigail Storm.

The next Miller-Keystone bloodmobile at PHS will be in early May. There will be a community blood drive at the First UCC Church on Thursday, April 8.

Card shower

Former Palmerton resident Robert Keck is facing surgery and a long recuperation time and could use some prayers and cards of cheer. Robert is a 1993 graduate of Palmerton Area High School.

Cards may be sent to: Robert Keck c/o St. Mary Corwin Medical Center, 1008 Minnequa, Pueblo, CO 81004. At this time, he is in the intensive care unit.

Palmerton Area Youth Group

The Palmerton Area Youth Group will meet from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 14 at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church, Palmerton (across from the car wash). This event is open to all ages and will be a Pysanky Workshop. For information, call (610) 377-7722.

Lions Club

The Palmerton Area Lions Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 15, at the Sunset Diner, Kresgeville. This is a dinner meeting.

Library board of trustees

The board of directors of the Palmerton Area Library will meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 17 at the library. Meetings are open to the public.

Book club

The adult book club will meet at the Palmerton Area Library from noon to 1:15 p.m. Monday, March 15. Please stop by or call the library at (610) 826-3424 for more information.
