Four-unit condominium heavily damaged by fire
A four-unit condominium was heavily damaged by fire early Wednesday morning.
The fire occurred along Mosey Wood Road in Lake Harmony, Kidder Township, near the Galleria at Split Rock Resort.
According to fire officials all the vacation homes were unoccupied. The fire started in the first unit and spread through a crawlspace to the three others. The first unit partially collapsed and was completely destroyed. The other three units sustained substantial fire, water and smoke damage, officials said.
The fire was discovered about 6:45 a.m. Responding firemen found the units engulfed in flames and heavy smoke when they arrived.
Responding fire companies included Lake Harmony, Penn Forest Township companies No. 1 and No. 2, Albrightsville, Nesquehoning, Lansford, Weatherly and Summit Hill. As part of the response was the Carbon County Mobile Foam Task Force which is used to fill burning buildings with high-expansion foam. The foam was used to smother the fire in the basements, officials said.
Also on scene were Kidder Township police along with fire police and ambulances from Lake Harmony and Freeland. No one was reported injured in the incident.
Photographs of the fire scene appeared in Wednesday's TIMES NEWS.
