Hit-and-run accident in Monroe
State Police at Fern Ridge continue to investigate a hit-and-run accident in Monroe County.
The crash occurred at 8:20 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of State Route 209 and Old Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township as an unknown driver was traveling north on 209.
David Barrett, 50, of Effort, was traveling north on 209 in his 2010 Mercedes-Benz behind the unknown driver. As the unknown driver slowed its speed, Barrett attempted to pass the vehicle on the right.
While Barrett was attempting to pass the vehicle, the unknown driver attempted to make a right hand turn onto Old Route 115 and subsequently struck the side area of Barrett's vehicle.
After initial impact, Barrett drove to final rest, parking off the roadway on Old Route 115, while the unknown driver drove away from the scene.
Barrett, who was wearing his seat belt, was uninjured.
