Slow moving in Parryville

Published March 16. 2010 05:00PM

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists traveling eastbound on State Route 248 in Parryville, Carbon County to be prepared for slow moving or stopped traffic Wednesday, March 17 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the area where the Northeastern Extension (I-476) crosses State Route 248 just north of the Lehigh River.

At 8 a.m. the contractor will begin setting temporary barrier and restriping the roadway prior to implementing a long term right-lane closure in effect from 3 p.m. Wednesday until the end of November.

The right lane closure is required for construction of the new bridge that crosses the Lehigh River, Lehigh Canal and an active Norfolk Southern Railroad line. Wednesday's work is weather sensitive and may be delayed or rescheduled. Please obey posted speed limits and use caution when approaching the work zone.
