Woman cited for assault incident

A Monroe County woman was arrested on Sunday, March 14, for assaulting her daughter.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said at 11:15 a.m officers were dispatched to the parking lot of the PenMart store along SR196 in Coolbaugh Township for a reported domestic incident. Officers said an investigation revealed that Theresa Gersbeck, 40, of Tobyhanna, was traveling in a vheilce and arguing with her 19-year-old daughter.

Gersbeck allegedly grabbed the girl by the hair and struck her in the face using her fingernails which caused lacerations to the daughter's face.

Gersbeck was taken into custody and lodged in the county prison in Snydersville pending arraignment on assault counts, police said.
