Nesquehoning

Zion Lutheran Church

Morning worship begins at 9 a.m. on Sunday. There will be a healing service during worship featuring prayer, scripture and the laying on of hands. Visitors are always welcome. The Rev. John Hazel is pastor, (570) 645-3469.

Breakfast will be served by the ladies auxiliary at 8 a.m. next week before the Palm Sunday service. Please sign the sheet in the back of the church if you will attend.

Woman's club

The next meeting of the Nesquehoning Woman's Club will be the April 5 dinner held at the Lake Hauto home of Nancy Kevilly

Please call Joyce Bond to make reservations. The meal selection will be a combination of three entrées lasagna, Pork Parmesan, and shrimp scampi.

Egg hunt

The Nesquehoning Recreation Center will sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt for only Nesquehoning children up to the age of 10 on April 3 at 1 p.m. Sign-ups are during bingo on a Wednesday from 5-10 p.m.

Summit Hill

League to meet

The Anthracite Little League will meet on Sunday, March 21, at 6 p.m. in the Summit Hill Borough Hall. President Roobhenn Smith will be in charge of the session, during which time plans for the upcoming season will be discussed. Parents, managers and officers are asked to attend.

St. Joseph Church

A Day of Exposition of the Eucharist will be held on Friday, March 19, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, in honor of the feast of St. Joseph.

The day will begin with a Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, with the students of Our Lady of the Angels Academy. Then at 10 o'clock, the Encountering Merciful Savior Holy Hour with confessions will be held, followed by Stations of the Cross at 11 o'clock. Exposition of the Eucharist will be held and will conclude with a closing Mass at 6 p.m.

Offering scholarship

The Summit Hill Lions Club is offering a $250 award to a graduating senior from Marian Catholic and Panther Valley High School for community service. For more information on this award, contact the guidance counselor at your respective high school.

The deadline for applicants is March 31.

Seeking recipes

The Summit Hill Fire Department is seeking recipes for its cookbook. If interested, drop recipes at the borough hall, St. Joseph Church, the Presbyterian Church, Hiles Brothers or Breslin's. The recipes can also be mailed to: S.H. Fire Cookbook, P.O. Box 114, Summit Hill, PA 18250, or emailed to shfirecookbook@hotmail.com. The deadline is March 31.

Lansford

Stations of the Cross

Stations of the Cross will be observed on Friday, March 19, at 7 p.m. in St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford.

The Rev. Kenneth Medve, pastor, will also celebrate Mass at 2 p.m. Friday at the St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, for patients there.

Easter egg hunt

St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, is planning its first (and possibly annual) Easter egg hunt for Saturday, April 3, beginning at 1 p.m. in the church parking lots. All parish families with children and grandchildren, ages birth to 10, are invited to participate.

To register, call the parish office between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The deadline is March 29.
