In this uncertain economy, saving a few dollars here and there is a good thing.

Saving money on a prom or wedding dress, is a great thing. And helping ill children realize the dream of a lifetime, is the best thing.

Prospective brides and starry-eyed young women with special occasions on their calendars, can accomplish all three goals at the annual Prom and Wedding Dress Sale to benefit Dream Come True, Blue Ridge Chapter.

The event takes place this year from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23, at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe.

Over 200 dresses have been collected, and more are coming in every day. Dresses will be sold for $10 and up.

In addition to prom gowns, formal wear and wedding gowns, there will be a selection of shoes, bags, jewelry and other accessories.

In addition, anyone who buys a dress that evening will be entered to win numerous prom-related gift certificates.

"This is such a great event," says Julianne Farina, marketing and public relations coordinator for Blue Ridge Communications, and an organizer of the annual prom gown and dress sale.

"Not only does it raise money for Dream Come True, and give us the opportunity to grant seriously ill children a dream, but it also gives girls who might not be able to afford a $200 prom dress, the opportunity to find a really beautiful dress that is affordable."

After shopping, stop in at Roadie's for dinner or dessert, and celebrate your good fortune at finding the perfect dress.

Last year $3,300 was raised from the Prom and Wedding Dress Sale to help create dreams for children.

If you don't need to buy a dress, or don't have one to donate, and just want to help out the kids, you are welcome to make a monetary donation to Dream Come True by sending your check to Dream Come True, Blue Ridge Chapter, P.O. Box 344, Palmerton, PA 18071. Or visit http://dreamcometrue-brc.org/ to make an online donation with a credit card.
