A view of an English Cottage Garden

Pamela Hubbard, a Penn State Master Gardener, has turned her and husband's, Dwayne Hubbard, home on Astolat Road in Effort into a virtual English Cottage Garden paradise. Astolat Farm has been in her husband's family for 150 years but it didn't begin to bloom until Pamela and Dwayne married 30 years ago. Pamela designs the farm's gardens around a typical English Cottage Garden, of which she is very knowledgeable, having been born and raised in England. A retired school principal, Pamela earned her title of Master Gardener and loves to share her knowledge and tips on gardening through her program, "My Garden Through the Seasons." She shared many colorful slides of her gardens with the Western Pocono Women's Club's March meeting.
