Woman, child hospitalized after Summit Hill crash

Published March 19. 2010 05:00PM

A Summit Hill woman and her child were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital after a car crash in Summit Hill on Wednesday.

The vehicle, driven by a 17-year-old male from Jim Thorpe, was being driven west on Route 902, coming up the hill, when another vehicle was allegedly coming down the hill, close to or over the center line.

The driver of the westbound vehicle swerved to the right, overcompensated and lost control of the vehicle, which flipped onto its side.

Two passengers in the vehicle, Christine Shive, 23, of 305 E. Ludlow St., Summit Hill, and her child, were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Shive had to be freed from the vehicle by members of the Diligence Fire Co.

The highway was closed for about an hour after the 8:36 p.m. accident. Summit Hill fire police controlled traffic.
