Quick response by firefighters,

police quell West Penn blaze

Quick response by West Penn and Mahoning Township fire companies stopped a raging brush fire from engulfing a major portion of land and brush as well as several trailers in the immediate area. Just after 1 p.m. Saturday firefighters were called to the Roger Faust property along the 400 block of Dairy Road in West Penn Township. Faust had apparently been burning a pile of debris when gusts of wind sent the fire into a nearby grass area. The fire quickly spread. Several trailers sat nearby with the fire spreading beneath the units. West Penn police who arrived on scene first, used fire extinguishers to contain the blaze until fire equipment arrived on scene.
