Restaurant owner seriously burned

Regis Ioannidis, 72, owner of the Water Gap Restaurant in Delaware Water Gap was seriously burned early Monday morning when a fire erupted in the structure. The fire was first reported at 4:30 a.m. in the well know diner of Monroe County. When firefighters from throughout Monroe and Northampton counties arrived on scene flames were shooting through the roof. Ioannidis was treated at the scene then flown by MedEvac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Burn Center with third degree burns. The victim lived in one of three apartments above the diner. A state police fire marshal has been summoned to the site.
