New pastor
Effort UMC learned this past weekend that when the Rev. Dave Felker, pastor, retires at the end of June, the pastorate will be filled by the Rev. Robin G. Fisher, as of July 1. Her move to Monroe County will include her husband, also a pastor, who has been appointed to serve Reeders UMC.
Rev. Deb Hoffman awaits notification of where her next pastorate will be.
Rev. Robin Fisher is currently serving Bethany UMC, Lebanon, Pa.
Healing service
Zion Lutheran Church will offer a Service of Healing at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 24.
West End Rotary
The featured speaker at the March 25 meeting of the West End Rotary Club will be Dick Cipoletti.
The club meets at 7:30 a.m., at the Western Pocono Community Library.
Board of education
The Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education will meet at 8 p.m., Thursday, March 25, in the district office in Brodheadsville.
PVHS Musical
This weekend, the Pleasant Valley High School musical will take the stage. Shows are at 7 p.m., Friday, March 26; 7 p.m., Saturday, March 27; and at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 28.
PVEN service
The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network is sponsoring an ecumenical Good Friday service at 1 p.m., Friday, April 2, at the Neola Methodist Church, 738 Neola Road.
Participants are asked to bring a donation of canned goods.
All are welcome to attend.
Silver Bugle
Minsi Trails Council, Boy Scouts of America, will host a Silver Bugle Contest at JAMBO100. It is open to all registered Scouts 18 or younger. The competition will be held at Kutztown University, at 1 p.m., May 15. All participants will receive a patch and the contest winner will receive a Silver Bugle.
