Mr. and Mrs. Michael Boyle of Beaver Meadows received word from the War Department today that their son, Cpl. John F. Boyle, was killed in action of Feb. 19 while serving with the Fourth Marine Corps Division on Iwo Jima. His brother, Seaman Joseph Boyle, was lost at sea on Aug. 8, 1942. His two first cousins, Joseph Carlin, of Beaver Meadows, and Thomas Gallagher of Bethlehem, lost their lives while fighting in the Philippines. The young hero was one of five brothers who service in World War II. He has many first cousins still in the service.
