Lutheran Bishop to deliver Lenten message at Jim Thorpe church
Samuel R. Zeiser, Bishop of the Lutheran Church, will deliver a Lenten message at 7 p.m. tonight at Immaculate Conception Church, Jim Thorpe.
The service is sponsored by the Jim Thorpe Ministerium.
Bishop Zeiser is a Jim Thorpe native, having graduated from Jim Thorpe High School in 1969. He continued his education at Albright College and the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Philadelphia.
He is the son of Mrs. Mildred Zeiser of Jim Thorpe and the late Sam Zeiser. He and wife, Linda, have a daughter, Samantha. His home church is St. John Lutheran, Heights, Jim Thorpe.
Bishop Zeiser has served in five congregations since his graduation from the seminary. They include St. John Lutheran Church, Nanicoke; Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Johnsonville; Bethany Lutheran Church, West Reading and Christ Lutheran Church, Allentown. He was elected Bishop in 2008.
