FCSLA plans meeting
The Frances C. Jakabein District of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association will hold its spring meeting at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 25, in Macaluso's Lantern, Route 209 and 93 in Nesquehoning. Host branches will be Nesquehoning 410 and Hauto 414.
Members of the St. Ann Society of St. Katharine Drexel Church planning to attend should make reservations by calling President Veronica Bazcik at (570) 669-5253 by Saturday, April 10.

Council meeting
The Nesquehoning Borough Council will meet on Wednesday, March 24 at 7 p.m. in the council chambers.
Free community supper next week
The free community supper for this month will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, at Meed's Methodist Church in Nesquehoning.
All are invited to join in the supper and socialization.
Lansford
Street sweeping
The Borough of Lansford Public Works Department has established a street sweeping schedule for the end of this month. All streets will be posted "no parking" on the day scheduled.
The borough requests the cooperation of residents and business owners in order for street sweeping to be performed as efficiently as possible.
Residents are also reminded to clean up after their pets on private and public property. Special concern must be shown for areas where children play. Councilman Lenny Kovach said, "Summer is coming and children will be spending a lot of time at our local pool and playgrounds.
Residents should get in the habit of carrying a small bag and scoop when they walk their dog."
The upcoming street sweeping schedule is as follows:
Thursday, March 25 - north sides of Patterson, Ridge, and Bertsch streets; Edgemont Avenue; and Oak Street.
Friday, March 26 - south sides of Patterson, Ridge, and Bertsch streets; Andrewsville; and Front Street.
Monday, March 29 - north side of Abbott Street; both sides of Water Street; and both sides of Springgarden and Snyder streets.
Tuesday, March 30 - all streets traveling north/south located on the west side of the borough.
Wednesday, March 31 - both sides of Kline Avenue; and all streets traveling north/south located on the east side of the borough.

The Summit Hill Borough Council operates on a committee basis, with members of the council serving in various capacities.
Borough residents needing assistance in borough matters can contact any of the council members serving on the respective committees that have been appointed by Joseph Weber, council president:
Streets and lights - John O'Gurek, Mike Alabovitz and Ken Boyd.
Police - Boyd, Harry Miller and William Chapman.
Recreation - Michael Kokinda, Chapman and Alabovitz.
Borough hall and personnel - Alabovitz, Kokinda and O'Gurek
Emergency services - Chapman, Boyd and Miller.
Sanitation - Miller, O'Gurek and Kokinda.
Ordinance - Miller, Kokinda and Chapman.
Handicap advisory board - Miller and Chapman.
Finance - all members of the council.
As president, Weber is a member of each of the committees.
