Rabies Vaccination Clinic resumes in 2010
The 15th Skippy Dietz Memorial Rabies Vaccination Clinic for dogs, cats and large animals will be held on Saturday, April 10, at the Lake Harmony Rescue Squad and Ambulance Corps, located on Lake Drive, Lake Harmony, Carbon County.
Clinic hours will be noon to 4 p.m.
Dr. Sharon LaChette VMB of White Haven will be donating her time.
Dogs and cats will be vaccinated for $10 each. Animals must be leashed or caged (no exceptions). Horses may be ridden or trailered in. Anyone who has more than one pet attending the clinic, is advised to keep the second and third animals in their vehicles until it is their turn for a vaccination, especially in the case of animals who are easily agitated by the sight of other animals.
Pennsylvania law requires all dogs and household cats be vaccinated at three months of age and the vaccination be kept current throughout the animal's lifetime. If this is your pet's first vaccination, it must be repeated one year later to be effective. The vaccine administered is good for one year. All mammals are susceptible to the rabies virus.
Monroe and Carbon counties dog licenses will also be available for county residents. Monroe County's representative is Claudette Seagear. Ronald Sheenan, county treasurer, will be there to assist Carbon County residents.

This year's clinic is dedicated to Sandi Dietz, who passed on Nov. 2, 2008.
Dietz was bitten by a dog at one of the clinics, which only fueled her desire to hold clinics.
"We want this to be a success," said Gene Getz, volunteer and board member of the Lake Harmony Ambulance. "We want to do one for her."
