Schuylkill driver in Lehigh crash
A Schuylkill County driver sustained serious injuries in a one-vehicle crash in Lehigh County. State police at Fogelsville said the crash occurred along SR309 in Lynn Township, about 7:25 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17.
Troopers said Adam J. Siket, 24, of Pottsville, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer northbound when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the road and went onto east berm. It then continued into a field while northbound. The vehicle then struck a standing wood "for sale" sign, continued north across a driveway and went airborne, and then landed. The vehicle then traveled about 40 feet where the front struck several trees. After hitting the trees the Chevrolet then traveled into a creek where the front end struck an embankment coming to rest lodged against it.
Siket was taken by Northwestern ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for what troopers said were major injuries.
Troopers cited Siket for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
Troopers also reported investigating a crash about 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, at 9035 Blacksmith Rd., in Weisenberg Township. Troopers said Jody Schwartz, 41, of Germansville, was driving a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta eastbound when she swerved to miss a deer that had entered the road in front of her vehicle. The car struck a utility pole along the berm. Damages were disabling to the vehicle. She was not injured.
A crash occurred about 4:38 p.m. on March 17 along SR100 in Lowhill Township. Troopers said Gladys Davis, 73, of New Tripoli, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck northbound and failed to see the vehicle in front slowing down. The front of her pickup hit the rear of a 2006 Ford Taurus which was driven by George Azar, 78, also of New Tripoli.
Azar sustained a minor injury in the mishap and was taken to the LVH by Cetronia ambulance. Davis, who was not injured, was cited for careless driving.
