Two Carbon County establishments were cited by the Wilkes-Barre enforcement office of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.
Palmertoni Magyar Szovetkezet, of 317 Lehigh Ave., Palmerton, was cited for violations of the liquor and crimes code. According to the board on Oct. 14, 2009, the establishment failed to adhere to by-laws and improperly admitted members.
Also, on Oct. 14, Nov. 15 and Dec. 10, 2009, and Jan. 30 and 31, possessed or operated gambling devices or paraphernalia or permitted gambling or lotteries, pool selling and/or bookmaking on the licensed premises.
The board also cited Penn Lunch, 301 Lehigh Ave., Palmerton, and Sue Ellen M. Tracey, for possessed or operated gambling devices or paraphernalia or permitted gambling or lotteries, pool selling and/or bookmaking on the licensed premises on Nov. 15 and Dec. 10, 2009, and Feb. 18. Also on Nov. 15 sold, furnished and/or gave alcoholic beverages on Sunday after 2 a.m.
These charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge brought.
