Published March 26. 2010 05:00PM

A Beaver Meadows man is facing numerous charges resulting from a motor vehicle accident in Barnesville on Tuesday morning at 2:45 a.m.

Rush Township police responded to an accident on SR54 near the Barnesville Post Office. A Chevrolet truck was located approximately 45 yards in the woods. The acting vehicle struck two other vehicles before coming to rest in a wooded area.

Several witnesses stated that the driver, Erick E. Gwaltney, Beaver Meadows, exited his vehicle and stated that he didn't need a driving under the influence (DUI). Gwaltney then ran from the area.

Police eventually located Gwaltney laying next to a railroad bed on Grier Ave. Drug paraphernalia was found inside the vehicle.

Gwaltney refused a blood test and was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Plachko, of Port Carbon, and lodged in the Schuylkill County prison, Pottsville, in lieu of $2,500 cash bail.
