VIA Basketball Classic Sunday at NCACC
The Annual VIA Basketball Classic will be held this Sunday at Northampton Community College's Spartan Center Gymnasium with four games on tap.
In the first game, Lehigh Valley West takes on the Colonial League in a girls game at 10:30 a.m., while the Lehigh Valley West vs. Colonial League boys square off at 12 p.m.
A special Via All-Star and Special Olympics Shoot Out will be held at 1:30 p.m. prior to the second set of doubleheaders.
At 2 p.m., the Lehigh Valley East will meet the Mountain Valley Conference in a girls game, while at 3:30 p.m., the Lehigh Valley East and MVC boys meet.
Game format will follow the college model of 20 minute halves, 30 second shot clock for boys and 35 second shot clock for girls, and college 3-point line.
Local athletes that will play in the contest are Evan Biegley and Nick Pappas of Northern Lehigh and Kevin Oxley of Northwestern Lehigh for the Colonial League boys, Vanessa Rimbey and Sheena White of Lehighton for the MVC girls, and Pat Kregeloh of Pleasant Valley and James Markley of Lehighton for the MVC boys.
