Break-in, theft incident probed

A burglary and a theft from vehicle incident that occurred in the same area of Schuylkill County is being investigated by state police at Schuylkill Haven.

Troopers said the attempted break-in occurred at Korner Pizzeria, located along E. Grande Ave. (SR209), in Tower City. Unknown criminals attempted to break into the business through a rear door using a crowbar and damaging the frame and door jam. They were unable to get in and went to the front door and also damaged the frame and door jam but did gain entry.

Once inside it appears nothing was removed from the business. The incident occurred sometime between 10 p.m. on Sunday, March 28, and 10 a.m. on Monday.

The theft from a vehicle occurred in an alleyway behind 431 E. Grande Ave., in Tower City, Porter Township. Troopers said the 1991 Toyota MR2 of Matthew Richmond was entered and removed was a Sony stereo faceplate, Pioneer speakers, amplifiers and a self-constructed subwoofer box. The incident occurred sometime between 3 p.m. Sunday and 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
