Meeting changed
Members of the Eastern Star, Monroe Chapter 99, will not meet this Thursday due to the Maundy Thursday holiday. The regular meeting will be held next week at the same place and time.
Good Friday Service
The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network is hosting a Good Friday service Friday, April 2, at Neola Methodist Church, 738 Neola Rd., Stroudsburg, beginning at 1 p.m.

Effort UMC
Special services will be held at Effort UMC including a Maundy Thursday Communion service on April 1. The evening will begin with a soup and bread supper in Wesley Hall at 5:45 p.m. Participants are asked to bring a loaf of Italian or French bread. Worship will begin in the sanctuary at 7 p.m.
The Good Friday service, a service of Tenebrae, will begin at 7 p.m.
Saturday's service will be at 5 p.m. and Sunday's services will be at 8:30 and 11 a.m.
Zion Lutheran
Holy Week services at Zion Lutheran in Brodheadsville include a 7:30 p.m. service Maundy Thursday, April 1; a 7:30 p.m. service Good Friday, April 2; and three services on Easter, including an Easter Dawn service at 6 a.m., and two Easter services at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., with Sunday School at 9:15 a.m. and a social hour in between.
Passover
Members of the Jewish community are celebrating the Passover this week.
St. Peter's Services
Saint Peter's UMC in Saylorsburg is having the following services: Maundy Thursday service, 7 p.m., April 1; Easter Sunrise Service, 7 a.m., April 3, with breakfast following; regular Easter service, 10 a.m.
McMichaels UMC
The church will host an Easter service at 9:30 a.m., Easter Sunday.

The Operation: Touch of Home group will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 6, at the American Legion Post Home on Route 209, Gilbert.

Firemen's Memorial
The Monroe County Firemen's Association will be conducting its 15th Annual Memorial Service at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 8, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Fish Hill Road in Tannersville.
This year firefighters and support team members from Monroe County fire companies who passed away in the 2009 calendar year will be memorialized. The service will be conducted by chaplains from the fire companies and includes a candle ceremony and tolling of the bell for the fallen, a selection by the choir of St. Paul's Church, an organ solo and a bag piper.

Volunteers needed

Academic fair
The Pleasant Valley School District Academic Fair is set for 6:30-8:30 p.m., Monday, April 26, at the high school.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the event and the district says it will be bigger and better.
