Jim Thorpe man jailed for threats

A Jim Thorpe man was jailed on Friday, March 26, for terroristic threats during an incident at his residence.

Borough police were dispatched to 1198 Center Ave., to a report of a theft of a boat in progress. Upon arrival officers were told by Joseph Oliver, of that address, that James Yaich was taking a boat from his property. Police noted that Yaich is the father-in-law of Oliver.

Officers spoke to Yaich and Frank Foster Jr., both of Jim Thorpe, and were told that they were there to get the boat that belonged to Yaich. Both stated that Oliver fired a shot from a gun and both stated after the shot was fired Oliver yelled threats towards them.

Oliver was taken into custody and arraigned before District Judge Edward Lewis, of Jim Thorpe, on charges of terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault and harassment. He was committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning in lieu of bail. Det. Lee Marzen made the arrest.
