One vehicle crash probed in Monroe

State police at Lehighton are investigating a one vehicle crash that occurred about 9 a.m. on Monday, April 26, along Greenzweig Road, in Eldred Township, Monroe County.

Troopers said Deborah A. Whitmore, 55, of Kunkletown, was driving a 1995 Jeep Cherokee eastbound and approaching a one lane bridge. Another vehicle was approaching in the oncoming lane at the bridge. Whitmore attempted to avoid the other vehicle by slowing suddenly and swerving to the side. The Jeep slid in the grass and struck the bridge.

Whitmore was not injured but the Jeep had to be towed from the scene. There was no damage to the bridge, troopers said.
