Tamaqua fire hydrant flushing begins May 3

The Tamaqua Area Water Authority will begin flushing fire hydrants on May 3.

The entire system will be flushed, with operations expected to continue through May 14.

Flushing will begin Monday, at 7 a.m., in the Dutch Hill area. Automated calls are being made to authority customers to advise them of the flushing. Calling lists were compiled from phone book listings.

Residents and business owners who wish to be notified via cell phone should call borough hall at 668-3444 or 668-0300.

Customers may experience temporary low water pressure or discoloration during the flushing process.
